Queen of the House

Queen of the House is a tonalist painting of my cat Nya. She's a very particular cat - part siamese and part ragdoll and a lot of trouble! In this painting I used only white, naples yellow, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, raw umber, and a tiny bit of mars black. My goal was to create a portrait of Nya with a limited pallet that both highlighted her dense fur and the light glowing behind her (that was my tv). I hope you enjoy her 'look but don't touch!' attitude.
